About Exam

On behalf of UGC, the National Eligibility Test (NET) is conducted for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for the Eligibility for Assistant Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship & Eligibility for Assistant Professor Both in Indian Universities and Colleges.

Till recently, the CBSE conducted the NET in 84 subjects at 91 selected Cities of spread across the country.

From Dec 2018 onwards, the UGC- NET (for Eligibility for Assistant Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship & Eligibility for Assistant Professor both), will be conducted by the NTA.

The award of JRF and Eligibility for Assistant Professor both OR Eligibility for Assistant Professor only depends on the performance of the candidate in both the papers of NET in aggregate. However, the candidates qualifying exclusively for Assistant Professor are not to be considered for award of JRF. Candidates who qualify the Test for eligibility for Assistant Professor are governed by the rules and regulations for recruitment of Assistant Professor of the concerned universities/colleges/state governments, as the case may be.

Eligibility

The eligibility criteria are some of the mandatory norms of an exam which are required to be followed by the participating candidates. These are set by the organizing authorities to select only the eligible candidates. Any of the candidates found not fulfilling these eligibility norms shall later be disqualified from the examination. Therefore, candidates must take care that they check with the conditions and then apply for the exam. The eligibility conditions for the CBSE NET 2019 exam are given as follows.

Candidates must be having a master’s degree from a recognized university.

The general category candidates must have secured a minimum of 55% marks in the master’s degree in disciplines such as computer science or application, humanities, electronics and social sciences. The reserved category candidates must have secured 50% marks in total.

Candidates who will be appearing in the final semester exams of their post-graduation can also apply for the ugc NET 2019.

The age limit of the candidates for the junior research fellowship programs is 28 years.

Exam pattern and syllabus

UGC NET Syllabus 2019

UGC NET 2019 June Paper 1 CBT Exam is scheduled on 20, 21, 24, 25, 26, 27 and 28 June 2019. In this article, we are covering UGC NET 2019 syllabus for Paper-I & Paper–II. UGC NET Syllabus 2019 is different for different topics asked in the CBT Exam. To ace the exam, a candidate must be weel versed in all the chapters of each topic asked in UGC NET 2019 Exam.

UGC NET Syllabus for Paper 2:

UGC NET Paper 2 will be based on subject-wise. A total of 94 subjects will be covered in the UGC NET Exam.
 Candidates will have to select one subject for the NET Exam preferably the subject of their post-graduation.
