Karnataka: JD-S MLA Konaraddi, 300 farmers spend night at disputed Kalasa Banduri Nala Project site
February 01, 2018
Agitated with the frequent 'illegal' visits by Goan legislators to the Kalasa Banduri project at Kanakumbi in Belagavi district, JD(S) MLA from Navalgund, NH Konaraddi decided to do the same in a show of force.
On Wednesday night along with almost 300 farmers, he stayed over at the Maouli temple in Kanakumbi village. This was done to counter the allegations being made by Goan legislators that illegal works were on to divert the waters of the Mahadayi river.
His supporters also brought vessels to cook food for all the hundreds of farmers who had come to take part in this all night agitation.
Konaraddi has been fighting for the immediate implementation of the Kalada Banduri Nala project. Targeting both the Congress and the BJP, he says they must stand together in this fight.
The Nala project will help to augment drinking water supply to 13 taluks in four districts of North Karnataka.
Like many leaders, he wants the PM to intervene to find a solution to this vexed problem.
